Mutants and Trekkies and Cyborgs! Oh, my!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Fuck June 21st (sorry summer solstice), everyone knows summer starts when the first blockbuster busts into box offices (see waht I did there?).

That day is today (May 1st) when Marvel and 20th Century Fox go retro with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The origins story of everyone’s favorite malcontent mutant hits the theaters this weekend starring Hugh Jackman (seen above) as Wolvie, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and will.i.am as John Wraith. SMH on that last casting. I don’t want to past judgement before seeing the film but… really? I see why black actors get pissed at rappers. All that said, I will be in the theaters this weekend to see it! Peep the traielr here:

Star Trek

Next week J.J. Abrams brings one of sci-fi’s most venerable franchises back to the big screen with his retooling of Star Trek (May 8). Starring Chris Pine as Capt. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock and Zoe “Did you see her in GIANT?” Saldana as Lt. Uhura. Now, I have NEVER been a Trekkie but I am an Abrams fan (since Alias days) and dude did a great job casting (Harold as Sulu and Simon Pegg as Scotty… brilliant!), so I am looking forward to being beamed up. Peep the trailer below:

Terminator: Salvation

Wrapping up the first big month of summer movies is the return of another sci-fi heavyweight. Terminator: Salvation (May 21) is the latest Terminator flick that stars Christian Bale (seen above) as an adult John Connor who has to save the world of course. Add Common to the mix and you have another great roller coaster ride… or do you? Again, I was never a big Terminator fan (sorry, Arnie) but I am interested in seeing how Comm does in his first big action flick (sorry, Smokin’ Aces). Peep the trailer below:

  1. So how’d you like that Wolverine movie? I loved the crossover scene with Baraka from Mortal Kombat! Totally ruined the franchise.

  2. Son, you should’ve seen Star Trek. Way better than Wolverine.

  3. Well, not all of us are as fortunate as you, Kev. We have to wait for Star Trek to hit theaters first. LOL
