Here’s another curveball for you. I recently discovered the War Tapes and I like what I hear. See, I told you I was diverse.
The Los Angeles-based quartet — consisting of singer/rhythm guitarist Neil Popkin, his sister/bassist Becca Popkin, lead guitarist Matt Bennett and drummer William Mohler — describes their sound as “heart-quaking doom pop.” I don’t know about all of that but I like what I hear. It’s moody, dark and ass-kicking. Check out their video for the single “Mind Is Ugly” below:
The War Tapes will make their full-length debut on May 26th with The Continental Divide (Sarathan Records). The group also recently confirmed they will join VNV Nation on a 23-date North American run. The tour will kick off on June 27 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles and will wrap in Phoenix, AZ at the Marquee Theatre. For all of the tour dates, see below.
